The organisation behind Metronome

Mlabs, MB (company code 307689679), a software company in the EU, publishes Metronome. Our contact for privacy matters and app support is info@10k.live.

Practice settings and history

Metronome saves the current rhythm, tempo, meter, beat accents and subdivisions; your named presets; and playback options such as volume, playing alongside other audio, screen display, count-in and automatic stop. Practice records include session times, tempo ranges and the preset/rhythm segments used. The app retains up to 500 finished practice sessions. Language, theme and whether Android's notification question has already been asked are also local preferences.

The document and recovery snapshots are held in private application storage on your phone. Mlabs has no practice-history server or app account. We receive no record of when or what you practise.

The clicks are bundled or rendered on the device. Metronome does not record your playing, use your microphone, stream a lesson or upload audio. It includes no advertising, analytics or automatic crash-report transmission, and it does not use an advertising ID.

Background playback and notifications

Pressing Play starts audible click playback. A media-playback foreground service lets it continue when the screen turns off or you use another app. On Android 13 and later, Metronome asks once for notification permission at the first Play action so it can display an ongoing playback notification. When visible, that notification shows tempo and meter and provides Stop; its visibility on the lock screen follows your phone's settings. A known first-run issue in the recorded release build starts playback before you answer the permission prompt: even after Allow, the notification and its Stop action stay hidden for that playback session. A second Play shows them. This issue must be fixed before the final AAB.

Declining notification permission does not disable playback. You can return to Metronome and stop it there; Android also provides controls for active foreground services. Swiping the app away ends its playback. This is local audio playback, not an alarm, background download or data-upload task.

Backups, permissions and external services

There is no in-app backup-file export, CSV, clipboard-backup or sharing feature. Android may nevertheless back up eligible app documents and preferences to your backup account or copy them during device transfer. Those system settings and limits determine what can be restored. We do not hold that backup.

Metronome requests permission to run a foreground service for media playback and to show notifications. An AndroidX signature permission protects private receivers. It does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts or broad media/file access. Metronome does not request Android's internet permission, so it cannot make network connections of its own.

A privacy, website or support link opens your browser or email app, which handles its own connection without any app data being attached. The external application's and destination's policies cover their connections.

Removing information and contacting us

Saved presets can be removed through the preset controls; practice history is retained within the app's session limit. Clear Metronome's Android storage or uninstall it to remove all local documents and preferences, including recovery files. Android backups are separate and need to be managed through your backup settings.

An email to info@10k.live gives us your sending address, its text and attachments you deliberately include. We use this to respond to the issue and retain the conversation for as long as needed to resolve it or fulfil an applicable legal requirement. We cannot see a practice document you have not sent.

Younger musicians and rights

This tool is designed for teenage and adult musicians, rather than as a young children's learning service. It creates no child profile, asks for no birth date and serves no ads. Families control any younger user's phone backup and notification visibility.

You can contact us to exercise applicable rights over information we hold, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection. Local practice records remain under your control on the phone. You can address a complaint to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work, or where you believe the infringement happened, or to our lead authority, the State Data Protection Inspectorate.

Revisions

We will publish changes to Metronome's privacy notice here and change its effective date. For an explanation or a privacy request, email info@10k.live.
