Chess Clock privacy policy

Effective date: 2 November 2026

Publisher and contact

Chess Clock is published by Mlabs, MB (company code 307689679), a software company in the EU. For questions about this policy or information you send us, write to info@10k.live.

The record on your phone

Chess Clock keeps a local record of games: time controls and starting times, turns, pauses, adjustments, dates and hidden-game state. Results and move counts come from that record. Older records can still contain player labels or adjustment reasons entered in an earlier version. Current adjustments use a fixed reason rather than asking you to type one.

Games are saved in the app's private storage. Language, theme, sound/mute and vibration choices are stored separately. Local recovery snapshots can retain an earlier version of the document. We have no game server, cannot watch your clocks and do not receive the game history.

Information the app does not send

There are no ads, advertising identifiers, analytics or automatic crash-report uploads in Chess Clock. It has no account or cloud-sync service. Playing a sound or vibrating at low time does not record the microphone or obtain your location, contacts or photos.

Chess Clock does not request Android's internet permission, so it cannot make network connections of its own. A privacy, website or support link opens your browser or email app, which handles its own connection without any app data being attached.

Backup text and Android backup

The Backup page can copy the complete game record to the clipboard. That includes hidden games and historical adjustment reasons. You choose where to paste it. Chess Clock does not encrypt that text or send it to a destination for you; protect any file, message or cloud copy you create.

Pasting a backup shows a check/preview before you confirm replacing the local games. Restored clocks stay paused. This game backup does not include the separate app settings.

Android may also back up eligible app files and preferences to your backup account or transfer them when you set up another phone. System settings, available space and Android's backup rules determine whether that happens. Manage those copies through Android and your backup provider; they are not held by Mlabs, and we cannot recover them.

Permissions and younger players

Chess Clock requests no camera, microphone, contacts, location, broad-storage or notification permission. Its AndroidX receiver protection is an internal app permission, not permission to read personal information. Keeping the board awake and using the clipboard follow the action you take.

The app is designed as a practical clock for teenage and adult players, rather than a service directed to young children. We do not ask for a player's age or run an advertising or tracking system for children. A younger user's phone and backup settings remain under the family's control.

Keeping and removing records

Game events remain locally until replaced or the app's storage is cleared. Hiding a game only changes History; it does not delete the game or exclude it from a backup. Clear Chess Clock's storage in Android, or uninstall it, to remove its local records and preferences. Uninstalling does not remove clipboard text, exported copies or system backups, which need separate attention.

If you contact support, we receive your email address, message and anything you choose to attach. We use that correspondence to handle your request, keep it while needed for the request and any applicable legal duty, and consider deletion requests. Please avoid sending a complete game backup unless it is needed.

Your choices and rights

Applicable privacy rights can include access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction and objection. Contact info@10k.live about information we actually hold. Local games must be managed on your phone because we have no remote copy. You may also complain to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work, or where you believe the infringement happened, or to our lead authority, the State Data Protection Inspectorate.

Policy updates

A later version of this policy will carry its own effective date on this page. Changes affecting Chess Clock's data handling will be reflected here. Privacy and support enquiries go to info@10k.live.
